Article target audience: Females, 16-24 years old, ABC1

Planning Comments
article genre
(purpose, type)
The purpose of this article is to inform the reader about good mood foods and bad mood foods, basically meaning which foods they should eat and which foods they should avoid. This will consist of a short article explaining how food can differ our moods and a breakout box which lists foods they should eat and which foods they should avoid and a short description as to why.
Narrative voice
(1st, 2nd or 3rd person)
The narrative voice used in this article will be 2nd person and will regularly use the word “you”. The reason for this being to ensure that the article appears direct to the reader therefore will entice them in to read more.
Register
(informal/formal, colloquial, dialect, taboo words?)
The register in this article will be informal and may use very mild colloquial lexis, this is to ensure that the article is appealing to the reader. However due to the target audience being a part of the ABC1 socioeconomics group there will be no use of taboo lexis throughout the article and the whole magazine.
Stylistics
(repetition, strong verbs, adjectives, alliteration, similes, metaphors, sentencing, rhythm)
This article will use repetition, for example in the title, and will also use it throughout the main body of the text, particularly with the use of the word “you” to ensure that it appears direct to the reader throughout. The use of metaphors and similes will be used to ensure the article appears fun and interesting to the reader, this will also make the reader think further into the article, for example, making them wonder why the particular metaphor has been used and what it is there to represent.
Tone of address
(hectoring, sarcastic, ‘matey’, ironic, etc)
The tone of address will be friendly, this is because the topic being discussed isn’t serious therefore there is no reason to make the article appear too formal. The article will be light-hearted throughout to keep the tone running evenly throughout.
Structure and pace
(discourse structure, logical paragraphing, connectives, conclusion)
The main body text in this article will be split into paragraphs to ensure that the text is broken up, this is important due to the age of the target audience being 16-24 as stereotypically they cannot concentrate for too long of a time, which is also the reason for only having a short article and bullet points in the breakout box. The sentence length will be mid length as it will be informative however will be quite a fast pace read to ensure that the readers do not get bored throughout.
